World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M viewers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various tongues.
